An Arsenal Soccer Schools course will run over 30 weeks, which is split into ten week cycles, alhthough players do not have to attend all three terms.
The emphasis is always on learning in a safe fun environment. Each of the ten week programmes will concentrate on the the skills and techniques needed in particular positions, with each module covering the key aspects of forward play, the role of the midfielder and and the principles of defense. Each age group will follow a progression from simple principles of team play through to tactical awareness in a match situation.
The individual sessions will begin with pulse-raising activities and dynamic stretching, leading to individual ball work and drills designed to improve technique in key areas. These skills are then applied in a conditioned game, with each session allowing time for open play in small-sided games. Every session finishes with a cool down and static stretches.
The courses encourage open play to improve technique, and so weeks five to ten are given over to small-sided games. Skill tests are included so that players can track the progress of their technique and see how they have improved.
Throughout the course, video analysis is used to correct players' technique. Key Arsenal players are used to show how the techniques will use on the training pitch translates to the English Premier League and Champion's League. The players will be recorded in training and can then correct their technique by comparing with Arsenal's international players.
